Simplicity 4092 Pattern
$5.25
OK, for all of you POTC fans out there, here is the
pattern for the lovely ivory gown that went into the bay (what a waste!!). If
you use hooks and eyes or lacing instead of the zipper, it will even pass! for
period. It is good for Louis XVI as well if you use paniers to hold the sides
out a bit, or American Revolution pretty much as is. Just lose the zipper, OK?
They weren't even INVENTED until the late 1800s, and weren't commonly used in
clothing for fastenings until the 1930s and 40s. (Do a little research, you'll
find it.)
Anyway, pretty pattern! Not too difficult for anyone other than a complete
novice.
This pattern will fit ladies sizes 14-16-18-20 (US)
I can't help it - I MAKE period clothing, and I can be QUITE critical about
whether or not a pattern is period correct! I'm picky, so sue me. I also give
unsolicited advice on how to make up the pattern best for the time period. This
is intended to help beginners. I don't mean to offend, and if you know what you
are doing, or don't care - please ignore me.
Envelope kind of battered (like most of my patterns - sorry!!), but the pattern
is in un-cut pristine condition. I do NOT sell used patterns. As long as you
don't plan on framing the envelope, you shouldn't be able to complain about the
deal here [grin].
